R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Paris High School students have celebrated the
  chartering of the Benjamin Clark Society of the Children of the
  American Revolution with a ceremony that included the installation
  of chapter officers; and
         WHEREAS, The Children of the American Revolution was founded
  on April 5, 1895, by Harriet Lothrop, an author and member of the
  Daughters of the American Revolution; established to promote
  patriotic values and a love of country among America's youth,
  C.A.R. is recognized today as the oldest and largest patriotic
  organization for young people in the nation; membership is open to
  anyone under the age of 21 who is a lineal descendent of an
  individual who rendered material aid to the cause of American
  independence; and
         WHEREAS, The Paris chapter of the organization was named in
  honor of Revolutionary War veteran Benjamin Clark, a North Carolina
  native who was born in 1758; after fighting in the war, Mr. Clark
  lived in Tennessee and in the Arkansas Territory before moving to
  what is now Red River County; he ultimately settled in Clarksville
  and resided there until his death in 1838; and
         WHEREAS, Those elected to lead the Benjamin Clark Society as
  its first officers are Will Domengeaux, president, Trey Kraft, vice
  president, Baelye Grissom, recording secretary, and Jack Kraft,
  chaplain; history teachers Cheryl Brown and Terry Davis have
  provided generous support and guidance as the group's sponsors; and
         WHEREAS, The Benjamin Clark Society of the Children of the
  American Revolution is dedicated to remembering and upholding the
  founding ideals of our nation, and it is indeed worthy of
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the chartering of the Benjamin Clark
  Society of the Children of the American Revolution at Paris High
  School and extend to its officers and sponsors sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
