R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Maricela Coronado of Honey Grove High School took a |
|
|
top state honor at the Texas Beta Club Convention in Dallas on |
|
|
January 14 and 15, 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The National Beta Club was founded in 1934 to foster |
|
|
in young people academic achievement, character, leadership, and |
|
|
service to others; between junior and senior Beta Clubs, the |
|
|
organization boasts more than 420,000 active members in over 8,000 |
|
|
clubs worldwide; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A sophomore at Honey Grove High School and a |
|
|
first-year member of Beta Club, Maricela Coronado won first place |
|
|
in the modern oratory category with her inspirational speech, "A |
|
|
Volunteer State of Mind," which she presented to an audience of |
|
|
1,600; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gifted young woman is a source of great pride to |
|
|
her family, her school, and her community, and it is a pleasure to |
|
|
commend her on her achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Maricela Coronado on winning first |
|
|
place in the modern oratory competition at the 2011 Texas Beta Club |
|
|
Convention in Dallas and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Coronado as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
