R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, January 19, 2011, marked the 50th wedding |
|
|
anniversary of the Reverend Tommy Davis and Marilyn Davis of |
|
|
Belton, providing a fitting opportunity to reflect on their |
|
|
memorable journey together as husband and wife; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tommy Davis and the former Marilyn Louthan met while |
|
|
attending Bethany Nazarene College and were joined in matrimony in |
|
|
1961 at a ceremony held in Oklahoma City; through the years, they |
|
|
have been blessed with a treasured family that includes two sons and |
|
|
their wives, Dan and Sandra Davis and Stephen and Denise Davis, as |
|
|
well as four grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Reverend Davis has been in the ministry with the |
|
|
Church of the Nazarene for 45 years; he retired as pastor of the |
|
|
Belton Nazarene Church in 2008 after a quarter-century of service, |
|
|
and he remains affiliated with the church as associate pastor and |
|
|
senior adult and visitation minister; Mrs. Davis retired from Scott & |
|
|
White Memorial Hospital in 2000; they have resided in the Belton |
|
|
area for 25 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 50 years of marriage that Reverend and Mrs. |
|
|
Davis have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and |
|
|
commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who |
|
|
know them; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Tommy Davis and |
|
|
Marilyn Davis on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Reverend and Mrs. Davis as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
