R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, In 2010, Debra Sue Miears retired as secretary of
  the Quitman Rotary Club and as the director of Wood County Adult
  Probation, drawing to a close her accomplished tenure with those
  two notable organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Miears began her service with the Quitman Rotary
  Club in 1997, and through the years she provided vital support to
  the group in its efforts to alleviate poverty, hunger, and
  illiteracy and to promote education and career development; her
  volunteer work garnered her recognition in perpetuity from the
  Quitman Rotary Club Board of Directors; and
         WHEREAS, In her role as the Wood County Adult Probation
  director, this dedicated professional oversaw a staff of
  misdemeanor and felony officers who supervised more than 600
  probationers in 2010 alone; she joined the department in 1980 and
  made vital contributions to the rehabilitation of offenders and to
  the protection of the public for 30 years; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of the late Dixie Todd, Ms. Miears has
  enjoyed the love and support of her stepfather, B. W. Todd, and her
  sister, Stephanie Todd Hankins, in all her endeavors; her
  retirement affords her more time to spend with her nephew, Briar
  Hankins; and
         WHEREAS, Embodying the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self,"
  Ms. Miears has performed work of lasting benefit to the local
  community in assisting the Quitman Rotarians and through her
  employment with the county, and her impressive achievements in both
  positions stand as tribute to her unwavering commitment to the
  greater good; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Debra Sue Miears on her retirement
  as secretary of the Quitman Rotary Club and as director of Wood
  County Adult Probation and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  happiness in the years ahead; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Miears as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
