R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Steve and Cissy Powell of Dallas |
|
|
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 30, 2010; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Steve Powell and the former Cissy Thompson were |
|
|
introduced by a mutual friend in October 1960, and after a whirlwind |
|
|
courtship, the pair were married at St. Michael and All Angels |
|
|
Episcopal Church in Dallas, less than three months after their |
|
|
first meeting; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Soul mates and best friends, Mr. and Mrs. Powell |
|
|
have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer |
|
|
with the addition of two children, Priscilla and Casey; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|
|
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|
|
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Steve and Cissy Powell on their |
|
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Powell as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
