R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Real Estate Councils of Texas are |
|
|
gathering in Austin on February 22, 2011, to celebrate Commercial |
|
|
Real Estate Development Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A statewide coalition of real estate professionals, |
|
|
RECsTX was founded in September 2008 to educate the public on issues |
|
|
affecting the real estate industry and to advocate on the |
|
|
industry's behalf; founding members include the Real Estate |
|
|
Councils of San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Greater Fort Worth, and |
|
|
Houston, as well as Houstonians for Responsible Growth; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The mission of RECsTX is to serve as the unified |
|
|
voice of the real estate development industry in Texas and to |
|
|
enhance the role of real estate within the state's economy; members |
|
|
of the organization also hope to raise public awareness about the |
|
|
significant economic impact of the real estate industry on Texas; |
|
|
in 2007, the industry provided approximately $3.8 billion in state |
|
|
tax revenue and generated more than $270 billion in total economic |
|
|
activity; furthermore, it contributed $76.8 billion in labor income |
|
|
and produced 1.75 million jobs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The well-being of Texas residents depends on |
|
|
economic prosperity throughout the state, and professional |
|
|
organizations like the Real Estate Councils of Texas are working to |
|
|
keep Texas moving forward on its path to a bright future; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize February 22, 2011, as Commercial Real |
|
|
Estate Development Day at the State Capitol and extend to the Real |
|
|
Estate Councils of Texas sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Real Estate Councils of Texas as an expression of |
|
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
