R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of El Paso has received a 2011 Gold |
|
|
Leadership Circle Award from the Texas Comptroller Leadership |
|
|
Circle program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Initiated in December 2009, the program was created |
|
|
to recognize local governments that are striving to attain |
|
|
financial transparency online; the award spotlights those that open |
|
|
their books to the public, provide a clear picture of spending, and |
|
|
share information in a user-friendly format; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of El Paso scored 17 out of a possible 20 |
|
|
points on the Leadership Circle rating sheet, reflecting the easy |
|
|
access that residents have to information about the city's |
|
|
finances; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Keeping taxpayers informed about how public monies |
|
|
are spent helps to maintain the high level of trust between citizens |
|
|
and their government that is vital in a free society, and the City |
|
|
of El Paso truly merits praise for its efforts in that regard; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the City of El Paso on its receipt |
|
|
of a 2011 Gold Leadership Circle Award from the Texas Comptroller |
|
|
Leadership Circle program and extend sincere best wishes to all |
|
|
those associated with the city's online project for continued |
|
|
success with their worthy endeavor; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the City of El Paso as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
