R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Youth Leadership New Braunfels contributes
  immeasurably to its South Central Texas community by working to
  develop future civic leaders and volunteers; and
         WHEREAS, Established by the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of
  Commerce and its Leadership New Braunfels Alumni Association, this
  exceptional program trains high school students in leadership
  techniques and community awareness, instructing them in current
  issues, resources, opportunities, and other factors affecting
  their community's future; and
         WHEREAS, Youth Leadership New Braunfels consists of seven
  monthly sessions covering city and county government, economic
  development, social needs, personal skills, and other topics,
  through panels and presentations from local community leaders and
  decision makers; the program also includes an orientation session
  with parents, a full-day retreat, a closing weekend retreat, a
  graduation ceremony, and, since 2001, "A Day at the Legislature";
  and
         WHEREAS, Now in its 14th year, Youth Leadership New Braunfels
  accepts 10th-grade and 11th-grade students from New Braunfels High
  School, Canyon High School, and New Braunfels Christian Academy who
  have maintained a minimum B average; there are 31 students in the
  current class, and to date, the program has graduated 386 students;
  and
         WHEREAS, Through its efforts to build a more informed and
  involved citizenry and to develop new leaders, Youth Leadership New
  Braunfels is helping to create a brighter and more promising future
  for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Youth Leadership New Braunfels for its
  promotion of civic leadership and volunteerism and extend to its
  participants sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
