R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Around the world, people have set aside a day each
year to honor the institution of fatherhood, and on June 19, 2011,
Texans and all Americans will join in celebrating Father's Day in
  the United States; and
WHEREAS, On this day we recognize fathers for instilling in
their children the confidence needed to meet the responsibilities
of adulthood; we salute the men who devoted themselves to the
well-being of their sons and daughters and, in the process, modeled
for their children guidance, forgiveness, compassion, and
  affection; and
WHEREAS, Fathers show their children how to try their best,
  how to be an individual, and how to stand up for what is right;
fathers model for their sons what it is to be a man, and they teach
both their sons and daughters to never settle for less than their
dreams; these indispensable values help shape the lives of future
generations long after they are imparted, and in this way the
selfless acts of fathers last forever; and
WHEREAS, Fatherhood encompasses a tremendous range of
challenges, opportunities, frustrations, and joys, and the
ultimate rewards, intangible though they may be, are among life's
most meaningful and enduring; all fathers share a powerful bond in
the love they have for their children, and this love enriches our
world beyond measure; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate Father's Day 2011, honor all men who
are fathers, and pay tribute to those fathers who have passed on but
endure in the memories of their loved ones.
