R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Oliver Elementary School of the Stamford |
|
Independent School District has been nominated for a 2011 Blue |
|
Ribbon School award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Created by the U.S. Department of Education in 1982, |
|
the Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes schools that rank in the |
|
top 10 percent on state tests or show dramatic gains in student |
|
performance; each year, the State of Texas selects up to 26 nominees |
|
from more than 8,000 public schools and charter campuses across the |
|
Lone Star State; and |
|
WHEREAS, Oliver Elementary, a first time nominee, was 1 of |
|
only 12 schools selected for improved student performance; led by |
|
principal Susan Mueller, it has an enrollment of 321 students in |
|
prekindergarten through the fifth grade; guided by the motto "Good, |
|
Better, Best," this notable institution has received an Exemplary |
|
rating from the Texas Education Agency for two years in a row; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through hard work, commitment, and perseverance, |
|
the teachers and students of Oliver Elementary have established a |
|
record of academic excellence, and their outstanding efforts are |
|
indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Oliver Elementary School on its nomination |
|
for a 2011 Blue Ribbon School award and extend to its teachers, |
|
students, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
