R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The marching band of Dripping Springs High School |
|
won the Class 4A state title at the 2009 University Interscholastic |
|
League State Marching Band Contest at the Alamodome in San Antonio; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This impressive win capped a solid record of |
|
accomplishments for the band, which has been a UIL state finalist |
|
multiple times and was ranked fourth in the state at the Texas Music |
|
Educators Association Honor Band Contest in 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Months of outdoor practice in the extremes of Texas |
|
weather resulted in a flawless performance of the band's program, |
|
"Moments in Crime," enabling the Tigers to beat out their nearest |
|
rivals, Friendswood High School and Poteet High School in Mesquite; |
|
the Dripping Springs band was ably led by drum majors Megan |
|
Alvarado, Connor Jones, and Laura Cripe; and |
|
WHEREAS, With this victory, the talented, energetic, and |
|
hardworking members of the Tigers Marching Band proved themselves |
|
one of the finest in Texas and earned great distinction for |
|
themselves, their school, and their community; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Dripping Springs High School |
|
Marching Band on winning the 2009 UIL Class 4A state championship |
|
and extend to all those associated with the band sincere best wishes |
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
