R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The swim team from Cathedral High School in El Paso
  reached the pinnacle of success by winning the 2010-2011 Texas
  Association of Private and Parochial Schools Division 1 state
  championship on February 11 and 12, 2011, in San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, This triumphant performance continued the Irish
  swim team's longstanding tradition of excellence; it was the
  school's 25th state swimming title, with Cathedral having won a
  state meet each year since 1984 with just three exceptions;
  moreover, the Irish have claimed every TAPPS championship since
  joining the organization in 2001; and
         WHEREAS, The dominance of the 2010-2011 Cathedral High
  swimmers under the guidance of coach Jack White was evidenced by
  their 118-point advantage over their closest competitor in the
  final standings as well as by their first-place finishes in all but
  two events; and
         WHEREAS, Individually, Leo Scott won the 50-yard freestyle
  and the 100-yard butterfly, while Jose De Jesus captured gold in the
  200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke, and Javi Ochoa
  won the 100-yard breaststroke; the 200-yard freestyle relay team of
  Mr. Scott, Mr. De Jesus, Christian Miller, and Alex Aguirre took
  first place and set a new state record in the process; also
  capturing relay gold were the 200-yard team of Mr. Scott, Mr. De
  Jesus, Mr. Ochoa, and Andres Esquivel, and the 400-yard squad of Mr.
  Miller, Mr. Aguirre, Mr. Ochoa, and Alex Cuaron; and
         WHEREAS, The success attained by the Cathedral swimmers is a
  testament to their hard work and dedication, attributes that will
  continue to serve them well in the years to come; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Cathedral High School swim team
  on winning the 2010-2011 TAPPS Division 1 state championship and
  extend to the team's athletes, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
