R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Mariachis Los Lobos band of Palmview High School
  won the class 5A championship at the High School All-State Mariachi
  Competition in San Antonio on January 22, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, The event, which brought high school mariachi
  ensembles from across the state to the Edgewood ISD Theatre for the
  Performing Arts, was hosted by the Mexican-American School Board
  Members Association in cooperation with Palo Alto College and Our
  Lady of the Lake University; and
         WHEREAS, The Mariachis Los Lobos impressed the judges with
  their skill and passion, and in addition to the prestige of taking
  top honors, their first-place finish earned them an invitation to
  perform at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo; and
         WHEREAS, Led and inspired by music director Mayra Garcia, the
  Mariachis Los Lobos include Abigail Aragon, Jomayra Canales,
  Rebecca Cano, Keyla Castellanos, Nereyda Castellanos, Acsa
  Delgado, Elsa Marie Garcia, Larissa Garcia, Nicole Guzman, Justin
  Hernandez, Norma Hernandez, Noel Marquez, Jose Angel Olivares,
  Adriana Puente, Rodolfo Rendon, Jacob Rivera, Frank Rocha, and
  Angela Salas; and
         WHEREAS, The Mariachis Los Lobos band is the latest in a long
  line of award-winning mariachi ensembles to come out of the La Joya
  Independent School District, and its members may indeed take pride
  in their impressive achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Mariachis Los Lobos band on its
  selection as the 2010-2011 5A High School State Mariachi Champion
  and extend to the band sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mariachis Los Lobos as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
