R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the Colleyville Garden Club
  celebrated 50 years of beautifying their community on January 11,
  2011; and
         WHEREAS, The club was founded in 1961 by Florence Eudaly,
  wife of the town's first mayor, and by several other Colleyville
  women who shared a love of gardening and who wanted to foster an
  interest in civic improvement and promote the conservation of
  natural resources; through the years, the organization has remained
  committed to enhancing the quality of life in Colleyville and to
  educating the public about all aspects of gardening; and
         WHEREAS, Among the numerous projects the club has undertaken
  have been the creation and upkeep of many lovely gardens throughout
  the city, including the heritage garden at Colleyville's historic
  Webb  House, as well as the establishment of an outdoor learning
  center at Colleyville Elementary School, the planting of 1,600
  daffodil bulbs in public locations, and the installation of three
  Lyman Whitaker wind sculptures in McPherson Park; the club also
  participates in city cleanups with the Keep Colleyville Beautiful
  program, and it helps purchase and plant trees in celebration of
  Arbor Day; to inspire and inform the public, it holds the annual
  Promenade Garden Tour, which showcases outstanding residential
  gardens; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to its volunteer work, the group awards
  a college scholarship to an area student planning to study
  horticulture or a related field, and it has made charitable
  contributions to many worthy causes and organizations, including
  the Nature Conservancy of Texas, World Gardening: Seeds for Life,
  G.R.A.C.E., the Colleyville Public Library, and Texas Garden Clubs,
  Inc.; and
         WHEREAS, For 50 years, the members of the Colleyville Garden
  Club have brightened and enriched the lives of their fellow
  citizens through their careful stewardship of the natural world,
  and their many achievements are indeed deserving of recognition;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding
  of the Colleyville Garden Club and extend to its members sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Colleyville Garden Club as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
