R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Juanita Maurine Cash of Fort Worth, who passed away on February
  11, 2011, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, The former Juanita Beaty was born in Mexia on August
  20, 1922, to Jack and Norvella Beaty; as a child she moved with her
  family to Cleburne, where she graduated from Booker T. Washington
  High School; she then continued her education at the Tuskegee
  Institute in Alabama, earning a bachelor's degree in home
  economics; afterward, she returned to Cleburne and began teaching
  at her alma mater; and
         WHEREAS, She married James Cash, a machinist with the Texas &
  Pacific Railroad, in 1945; the couple enjoyed a rewarding marriage
  that spanned four decades and was blessed with two children, James
  and Pamela; and
         WHEREAS, In 1953 the family relocated to Fort Worth, where
  Mrs. Cash was instrumental in establishing the first child day-care
  center in the Greenway neighborhood; she eventually resumed her
  teaching career and devoted more than 20 years to educating
  students in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades at Riverside and
  Oakhurst Elementary Schools; a devoted educator, she expected a lot
  from her students, and she worked hard to ensure that they developed
  the skills and knowledge they needed to succeed; though the demands
  she placed on her students initially would make her unpopular, she
  was invariably beloved by them by the end of the school year; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Cash began pursuing a master's degree in
  education at Texas Christian University in the early 1960s, but due
  to segregation, she could not attend classes on campus; she
  enrolled in courses taught by TCU faculty at an elementary school
  until the university was integrated, after which she finished her
  studies on campus and completed her degree; she retired from
  teaching in 1985; and
         WHEREAS, Juanita Cash lived a caring and purposeful life, and
  she will forever be remembered with great admiration and affection
  by all who held her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Juanita Cash and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her son,
  James Cash, Jr.; to her daughter, Pamela Cash Menzies; to her
  stepdaughter, Beverly Curley; to her grandchildren; and to her
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Juanita
  Cash.
