R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Eta Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., is |
|
|
celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1942 at Lewis Business College in |
|
|
Detroit, Michigan, Eta Phi Beta was established to serve the needs |
|
|
of African American business and professional women and |
|
|
specifically to promote high scholastic standards, personal |
|
|
growth, and career awareness while providing opportunities for |
|
|
community service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, the national organization remains committed |
|
|
to supporting its core values as well as to fostering leadership |
|
|
skills in its members, providing scholarships in business and |
|
|
professional fields, and assisting in programs designed to improve |
|
|
the quality of life for people who are developmentally disabled; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Eta Chapter of the sorority in Fort Worth was |
|
|
founded on these same principles, and the group has long served as a |
|
|
valuable resource for professional women in North Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Together, the members of the Eta Chapter have helped |
|
|
to enhance the lives of many of their fellow residents, and in so |
|
|
doing, they have set a sterling example of leadership and civic |
|
|
engagement to which all may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor the Eta Chapter of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, |
|
|
Inc., on the 50th anniversary of its founding and extend to its |
|
|
members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
