R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sandi Stevens has long distinguished herself
  through her volunteer work in the community and has played an
  especially significant role in efforts to help victims of family
  violence in Dallas and surrounding cities; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Stevens serves as president of the board of
  directors for The Family Place, one of the area's largest providers
  of outreach to those who have experienced or are threatened by
  family violence; the organization offers vital assistance that
  includes counseling, housing, and a 24-hour hotline; and
         WHEREAS, This accomplished Texan's leadership skills have
  been a valuable asset for The Family Place; its volunteers are
  responsible for over 150,000 hours of service annually, and their
  work entails caring for numerous families at any given time, with
  the agency feeding and otherwise providing for more than 50
  children every day; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Stevens also gives back to her community by
  serving on the board of directors for the Dallas Children's
  Theater, and she volunteers with the CareerCare group at St. Andrew
  United Methodist Church; she is a former member of the advisory
  council for the Sci-Tech Discovery Center science and technology
  museum; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her extensive volunteer work, Ms.
  Stevens is a highly accomplished professional who has worked as a
  human resources executive for many top companies and is currently a
  senior vice president with Challenger, Gray, and Christmas;
  moreover, she is a former president of the Dallas Human Resource
  Management Association and served as director of the DHRMA
  Southwest Conference; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community, Sandi Stevens has
  donated her time and talents to help those in need and make the
  Dallas area an even better place to live, and she is indeed worthy
  of recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Sandi Stevens for her outstanding
  community service work and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Stevens as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
