R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Lee Ricks of Pleasanton has distinguished himself as |
|
a talented and successful artist for more than four decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, With a keen eye for the beauty of nature and an |
|
appreciation for a bygone era, Lee Ricks creates watercolor |
|
paintings of the Old West, Southwestern landscapes, coastal scenes, |
|
and colonial buildings of Mexico and Europe; he holds a bachelor's |
|
degree in art from The University of Texas at Austin, and he worked |
|
as an illustrator and art editor for the Texas Ranger magazine; and |
|
WHEREAS, An independent businessman for 35 years, Mr. Ricks |
|
began devoting himself full-time to his art in 1993; he is a former |
|
president and the current treasurer of the Texas Watercolor |
|
Society, and he performs demonstrations and conducts workshops |
|
throughout South Texas; he was a featured poster artist for the |
|
United Way of San Antonio campaigns of 2008 and 2009, and his work |
|
has been recognized with awards from the Western Federation of |
|
Watercolor Societies, the San Antonio Watercolor Group, and the San |
|
Antonio Art League; and |
|
WHEREAS, Wholly dedicated to his art, Lee Ricks has earned |
|
the admiration and appreciation of citizens across the Lone Star |
|
State and beyond, and he may indeed take pride in his impressive |
|
body of work; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Lee Ricks for his professional |
|
achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Ricks as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
