R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A talented athlete received well-deserved
  recognition when Sam L. Sibert was inducted into the 2009-2010
  Eastern Oklahoma State College Alumni Hall of Fame and a
  scholarship was named in his honor; and
         WHEREAS, Born in McCormick, South Carolina, Mr. Sibert grew
  up in Chicago, where he attended Crane Tech High and led the
  school's basketball team to within one game of a state
  championship; pursued by a number of major universities, he chose
  to study at Eastern Oklahoma State College; and
         WHEREAS, During his college career, he broke every basketball
  rebounding record at EOSC, was twice named an All-American, earned
  the prestigious Larry Stone Award, and went on to win two National
  Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national championships at
  Kentucky State University; moreover, he was drafted into the
  National Basketball Association as the first draft choice by the
  newly franchised Kansas City-Omaha Kings; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Mr. Sibert is a successful entrepreneur; the
  founder and CEO of a utility corporation, the S. L. Sibert Company,
  he supervises more than 250 employees at one of the largest
  construction companies in North Central Texas; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman has been supported in all of
  his endeavors by his wife of 37 years, Rita, and his three children,
  Dorian, Robin, and Samantha; he is also a doting grandfather to six
  grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Sam Sibert anchored his alma mater's basketball team
  with powerful and inspired performances, and he remains a beloved
  figure among Mountaineer fans and Oklahoma residents; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Sam L. Sibert on his induction into
  the 2009-2010 Eastern Oklahoma State College Alumni Hall of Fame
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and
  good fortune; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Sibert as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
