R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The award-winning members of the Bellville Heritage |
|
|
Cowgirls have been thrilling and inspiring audiences across Texas |
|
|
for more than seven years with their precision horseback riding |
|
|
skills; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 2004, the Bellville Heritage Cowgirls is |
|
|
a mounted drill team that specializes in intricate riding |
|
|
formations in which they carry the American and Texas flags; the |
|
|
talented women who make up this unique and hardworking group are |
|
|
volunteers between the ages of 18 and 58 who dedicate themselves to |
|
|
practicing more than 40 weeks out of the year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For five of the past seven years, the team has taken |
|
|
honors at the United States Equestrian Drill Competition; they won |
|
|
first place in the novice division in 2005 and went on to take first |
|
|
place in the adult division in 2007 and 2008, in the rodeo drill |
|
|
division in 2006, and in the rodeo division in 2010; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Cowgirls have appeared at the Houston Livestock |
|
|
Show and Rodeo each year since 2007, and in 2010 the group served as |
|
|
the Grand Marshal of the Austin County Fair Parade; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The riders of the Bellville Heritage Cowgirls have |
|
|
brought distinction to themselves and their community with their |
|
|
skill, patriotism, and showmanship, and they may indeed take great |
|
|
pride in all that they have accomplished; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend the Bellville Heritage Cowgirls on its |
|
|
achievements as a precision mounted drill team and extend to the |
|
|
members of the group sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Bellville Heritage Cowgirls as an expression of |
|
|
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
