R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. H. Randolph Bailey has been named the |
|
|
Distinguished Houston Surgeon for 2011 by the Houston Surgical |
|
|
Society for his exemplary professional achievements; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A summa cum laude graduate of Rice University, Dr. |
|
|
Bailey earned his medical degree from The University of Texas |
|
|
Southwestern Medical School in Dallas; he served his internship at |
|
|
Parkland Hospital, his residency at The University of Texas Medical |
|
|
School, and his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at The |
|
|
Ferguson-Droste-Ferguson Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bailey serves as chief of the division of colon |
|
|
and rectal surgery at The Methodist Hospital and The University of |
|
|
Texas Medical School at Houston, where he is also program director |
|
|
emeritus of the residency training program and colon and rectal |
|
|
surgery and a clinical professor of surgery, a role he also holds at |
|
|
Weill Cornell Medical College; in addition, he serves as a |
|
|
consultant and adjunct professor in the division of surgery at The |
|
|
University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A member of the board of regents of the American |
|
|
College of Surgeons, Dr. Bailey has earned a number of |
|
|
well-deserved honors through the years, including the Rice |
|
|
University Distinguished Alumni Award and the Surgical Teaching |
|
|
Award from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In selecting Dr. Bailey as the Distinguished Houston |
|
|
Surgeon of the year, the Houston Surgical Society is acknowledging |
|
|
his dedication to excellence in his field, and it is a pleasure to |
|
|
join his colleagues in honoring him; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. H. Randolph Bailey on being |
|
|
named the Distinguished Houston Surgeon for 2011 by the Houston |
|
|
Surgical Society and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Bailey as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
