R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Outland Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Fort Worth is
  hosting the 128th Session of the Texas Annual Conference of the
  African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church from June 8 to 12, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Organized in 1796 and chartered in 1801, the A.M.E.
  Zion Church serves more than one million members under the
  leadership of the General Conference, the Board of Bishops, and 12
  elected general officers and department heads; and
         WHEREAS, The group has earned the title of Freedom Church for
  its work to promote racial justice, peace, and harmony; its houses
  of worship have helped families to find jobs, affordable housing,
  and health care and day care services, as well as assistance with
  financial planning; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to its efforts to support social change
  in the U.S., it has also established churches on six of the seven
  continents, with schools and clinics throughout Ghana and Nigeria;
  and
         WHEREAS, Many Texans have looked to the African Methodist
  Episcopal Zion Church for spiritual enrichment and guidance through
  the years, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the organization
  at this special time in its rich history; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 128th Session of the Texas
  Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church
  and extend to its participants sincere best wishes for a productive
  and meaningful event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
