             | 
                   WHEREAS, Outland Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Fort Worth is  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            hosting the 128th Session of the Texas Annual Conference of the  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church from June 8 to 12, 2011; and | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
                   WHEREAS, Organized in 1796 and chartered in 1801, the A.M.E.  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            Zion Church serves more than one million members under the  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            leadership of the General Conference, the Board of Bishops, and 12  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            elected general officers and department heads; and | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
                   WHEREAS, The group has earned the title of Freedom Church for  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            its work to promote racial justice, peace, and harmony; its houses  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            of worship have helped families to find jobs, affordable housing,  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            and health care and day care services, as well as assistance with  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            financial planning; and | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
                   WHEREAS, In addition to its efforts to support social change  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            in the U.S., it has also established churches on six of the seven  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            continents, with schools and clinics throughout Ghana and Nigeria;  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            and | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
                   WHEREAS, Many Texans have looked to the African Methodist  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            Episcopal Zion Church for spiritual enrichment and guidance through  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            the years, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the organization  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            at this special time in its rich history; now, therefore, be it | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
                   RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            Legislature hereby commemorate the 128th Session of the Texas  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            and extend to its participants sincere best wishes for a productive  | 
         
         
            | 
                
			
             | 
            and meaningful event; and, be it further |

             | 
                   RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be  |
