R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Leona Fischer of Sunnyvale on February 26, 2011, at the
  age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Harvey and Fannie Bullard, the
  former "DeRue" Bullard was born in Emory on January 1, 1928; she
  graduated from Emory High School in 1944 and married her high school
  sweetheart, Waymon Charles Fischer, in 1946; they later became the
  parents of three sons; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Fischer adored children, and she and her
  husband owned and operated the Douglas and Michael Daycare Center
  in Dallas and Fischer's Fun Farm Summer Day Camp for 25 years; warm
  and caring, she looked for the good in people and brought out the
  best in them; and
         WHEREAS, In 1972, Mrs. Fischer and her husband opened
  Fischer's Antiques in Sunnyvale, and the business became a landmark
  in the Highway 80 antiques area; she was dedicated to her community,
  and in 2009, she made the Sunnyvale Pecan Harvest Festival possible
  by allowing the chamber of commerce to hold the inaugural edition of
  the now annual event on her property; her magnanimous gesture
  prompted the chamber to name her the Sunnyvale Pecan Queen, an honor
  noted in the Congressional Record of the 111th United States
  Congress; and
         WHEREAS, DeRue Fischer brought joy to innumerable people
  through her kindness, compassion, and understanding, and she will
  forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of those who were lucky
  enough to share in her love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Leona "DeRue" Fischer
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  sons, Ronnie, Tony, and Sam; to her three granddaughters; to her two
  great-grandsons; to her brother, Carlton Bullard; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leona
  "DeRue" Fischer.
