R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Sondra
  Dailey of El Paso, who passed away on February 27, 2011, at the age
  of 66; and
         WHEREAS, Born on December 29, 1944, to Dr. Gilbert Banfield
  and Marion Martin Banfield, the former Sondra Elise Banfield grew
  up in Baltimore; she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a
  master's degree in education from Howard University in Washington,
  D.C., and an MBA from the University of Baltimore; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Dailey worked as a management consultant and as
  a counselor at a private school in Baltimore, where she also taught
  ethnic dance, sewing, and knitting; she researched and wrote
  history curriculum materials for elementary-age students, and she
  owned and operated an interior design firm for several years; in
  addition, she created and presented liturgical dances at churches
  and prison facilities and was the director of a dance ministry
  program; and
         WHEREAS, She reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Dr.
  Maceo Crenshaw Dailey, Jr., at a class reunion, and the couple
  married in 2003; she joined her husband in El Paso, and together
  they founded Sweet Earth Flying Press and published Boy of the
  Border, a children's book by Langston Hughes and Arna Bontemps
  never previously made available to the public; Ms. Dailey wrote and
  produced dramatic works and taught courses in writing, modern and
  ethnic dance, and drama in the Ysleta Independent School District;
  in addition, she established a business through which she sold the
  hand-knitted clothing and accessories she created; and
         WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Dailey served on the
  boards of Kids Excel El Paso, a nonprofit arts initiative that
  brings dance into public schools, and the FEMAP Foundation, which
  focuses on health, economic development, and education among
  marginalized populations, and she served as chair of the FEMAP
  annual fund-raiser; she offered knitting classes at a local women's
  shelter and she was the cofounder of the Sandbox Empowerment Group,
  which counseled women victims of abuse and provided them with
  professional training; and
         WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Dailey enjoyed the love
  and support of her husband, as well as her two sons, Jason and
  Garth; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to opening the doors of opportunity for
  others, Sondra Dailey will be deeply missed, but the grace,
  creativity, and optimism with which she lived her life will forever
  inspire all who had the good fortune to know her; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sondra Dailey and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Dr. Maceo Crenshaw Dailey, Jr.; to her sons, Jason and
  Garth Timoll; to her siblings, Gilbert Leslie Banfield, Jr., Karen
  Evans, and Adrienne Banfield-Jones; to her daughter-in-law,
  Phyllis Timoll; to her nieces and nephews, Jada, Tiffany, Brett,
  Whitney, and Trey; and to her other relatives and many friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sondra
  Dailey.
