R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Paula
  Dare Roberts Baker, who passed away on March 12, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Red Bird, Oklahoma, to William Dee Roberts
  and Hattie Virginia Burns Roberts on August 17, 1926, Paula Roberts
  studied at Huston-Tillotson University and earned degrees from West
  Virginia State University, the University of North Texas, and Texas
  Woman's University; she went on to have a career as an elementary
  school teacher and speech therapist in the Fort Worth Independent
  School District that spanned more than three decades, and she was
  also a librarian for Tarrant County College and later worked as a
  bookkeeper and board secretary-treasurer for a funeral home; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Baker shared her time and talents as a member of
  the board of directors of Child Protective Services of Tarrant
  County, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Progressive Literary
  and Art Club, the Bunche-Ellington Club, and the Historic Carver
  Heights Neighborhood Association; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to her faith, Ms. Baker was an active member
  of the Baker Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, serving as
  a trustee, a teacher in the church school, and a member of the
  Daughters of Baker, the Corine Griffin Women's Missionary Society,
  and the noonday prayer and Bible study groups, as well as holding a
  seat on the Christian education commission; and
         WHEREAS, An advocate for children throughout her life, Paula
  Baker was a kind, generous, and loving woman who will forever be
  remembered with deep affection by all who held her close to their
  hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Paula Dare Roberts
  Baker and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to
  her son, James Nathan Charles Baker; to her daughter, Janice
  Annette Baker Offutt and her husband, Gerald; to her special
  daughter, Jacquelyn Meeks; to her special sister, Catherine
  Christian; and to her many other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Paula Dare
  Roberts Baker.
