R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
death of Deryl Wayne Abbe, Sr., of Waco on March 5, 2011, at the age |
|
of 66; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deryl Abbe was born in Big Spring on June 12, 1944, |
|
to Leo and Dorothy Abbe; in 1952, his family moved to Waco, where he |
|
attended University High School; he and his brothers, David, Dewey, |
|
Donnie, Dennis, and Danny, were each born 11 months apart and were |
|
known as the "Six D's"; the boys were featured in the Mother's Day |
|
editions of newspapers across Texas in the 1950s; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Abbe joined the United States Air Force in 1963 |
|
and served three tours of duty in Vietnam; returning to Waco in |
|
1976, he worked at RAM Aircraft for several years before joining M&M |
|
Mars; he retired in 1995; and |
|
WHEREAS, During his tenure at RAM, Mr. Abbe met the love of |
|
his life, Kay, and the couple married in 1978; uniting his children, |
|
Butch, Shannon, and Shawn, with Kay's daughters, Wanda and Lori, |
|
the family eventually grew to include 19 grandchildren and 5 |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Abbe was an avid NASCAR fan and, in his leisure |
|
time, he enjoyed attending the races at Texas Motor Speedway; |
|
moreover, he delighted in the company of his many loved ones; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Deryl Abbe is deeply missed, memories of |
|
his devotion to his family remain to comfort and inspire those he |
|
leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Deryl Wayne Abbe, Sr., |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
|
wife, Kay; to his son, Deryl Abbe, Jr., and his wife, Jeanette; to |
|
his daughters, Wanda Anderson and her husband, Mike, Shannon Crist, |
|
and Lori Holmes and her husband, Jimmy Don; to his daughter-in-law, |
|
Sheri Abbe; to his 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; to |
|
his brothers, David Abbe and his wife, Roxy, Dewey Abbe, Don Abbe |
|
and his wife, Glenda, and Dann Abbe and his wife, Kay; and to his |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Deryl Abbe. |
