R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Midway High School in Waco is home to numerous |
|
|
students who share their time and talents for the benefit of others, |
|
|
and these young people were honored with the 2011 Spirit of Midway |
|
|
Award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Created by the Midway Independent School District |
|
|
Education Foundation and the Midway High School PTA, the award |
|
|
acknowledges students who complete 15 hours of community service, |
|
|
while also maintaining at least a B average and participating in two |
|
|
or more extracurricular activities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 2011, 300 students met these criteria, and they |
|
|
were recognized at a breakfast on March 2 that was attended by MISD |
|
|
superintendent Brad Lancaster; they each received a letter jacket |
|
|
and patch as commendation for their efforts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Spirit of Midway Award is encouraging MHS youth |
|
|
in their personal development by rewarding them for setting and |
|
|
achieving goals that not only build character but also contribute |
|
|
to the world at large, and the 2011 recipients should be justifiably |
|
|
proud of their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Midway High School 2011 Spirit |
|
|
of Midway Award winners and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
