R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jaime Barceleau of El Paso has been honored with the |
|
2011 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Rio Grande Branch of the |
|
National Association of Social Workers; and |
|
WHEREAS, The organization presents its Lifetime Achievement |
|
Award to those individuals who have had an accomplished career in |
|
the field of social work and who have made a lasting impact on their |
|
community; over the course of more than three decades, |
|
Mr. Barceleau has forged an outstanding record of achievement while |
|
tirelessly working to improve the lives of his fellow citizens, and |
|
his efforts have greatly benefited the city of El Paso; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his capacity as executive director of the Paso |
|
Del Norte Children's Development Center, Mr. Barceleau oversees an |
|
organization whose mission is to provide therapeutic, educational, |
|
and day-care services to children with special needs; the center |
|
employs a staff of nearly 100, including doctors, rehabilitation |
|
therapists, and other health care professionals, and serves |
|
thousands of individuals every year; and |
|
WHEREAS, A strong advocate of initiatives to improve the |
|
health and welfare of his city, Mr. Barceleau has also contributed |
|
significant time and energy to the successful campaign to build the |
|
El Paso Children's Hospital, which opens in 2012; in addition, he |
|
played an instrumental role in establishing the Border Children's |
|
Mental Health Collaborative, a county department that provides |
|
mental health care and counseling to children with mental and |
|
emotional disturbances, and he has served on the boards of a number |
|
of worthy organizations, among them Goodwill Industries and the |
|
Northwest Community Health Center; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his caring, committed, and dynamic |
|
leadership, Jaime Barceleau has contributed immeasurably to |
|
strengthening the health and human service resources of El Paso, |
|
and he is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jaime Barceleau on receiving the |
|
2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rio Grande Branch of the |
|
National Association of Social Workers and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Barceleau as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
