R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, For the past five decades, Thomas Eugene Carnes has |
|
contributed significantly to Freemasonry in the Lone Star State and |
|
beyond; and |
|
WHEREAS, A sixth-generation Mason, Gene Carnes first became |
|
involved with the order in 1962 when he petitioned Harlandale Lodge |
|
No. 1213 in San Antonio; he has since been affiliated with Bandera |
|
Lodge No. 1123, Rising Star Lodge No. 429, Kendall Lodge No. 897, |
|
Fredericksburg Lodge No. 794, Tranquility Lodge No. 2000, and Point |
|
Isabel Lodge No. 33, of which he is a charter member, and he has |
|
served as lodge master on multiple occasions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Beyond the local level, Mr. Carnes has served as the |
|
district deputy grand master of the 51st Masonic District and as |
|
chair of its special assignments committee and committee on work; |
|
he was appointed grand marshal of the Grand Lodge of Texas in 1999 |
|
and is the current grand representative to the Grand Lodge of |
|
Nebraska; he has further distinguished himself through the years as |
|
grand junior warden, grand senior warden, and deputy grand master, |
|
and he was elected as grand master on December 4, 2010; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Carnes maintains numerous memberships in |
|
auxiliary Masonic organizations as well, among them the Texian York |
|
Rite College No. 60, St. Anthony Conclave, Red Cross of |
|
Constantine, the Allied Masonic Degrees, Alzafar Shrine, Royal |
|
Order of Scotland, and Texas Lodge of Research; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is retired from the United |
|
States Air Force Civil Service, where he worked as a logistics |
|
management specialist; in all of his endeavors, he enjoys the love |
|
and support of his wife, Gay, and their two sons, Larry and James; |
|
moreover, his family includes three grandchildren and two |
|
step-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his leadership and dedication, Gene Carnes |
|
has made a positive difference in the lives of thousands of his |
|
Masonic brothers, giving selflessly for the betterment of the |
|
order, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for his |
|
outstanding efforts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Gene Carnes for his many contributions to |
|
Freemasonry in the State of Texas and beyond, and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Carnes as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
