R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
  at the loss of U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Corey C. Owens of
  San Antonio, who died in Iraq on February 17, 2011, at the age of 26;
  and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 47th Security Forces Squadron out of
  Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Airman Owens died in a noncombat
  incident while serving at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq in support of
  Operation New Dawn; and
         WHEREAS, Corey Owens was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina,
  on September 26, 1984, to Steve Owens and Chris Owens; a member of a
  military family, he lived in many places across the nation and
  overseas while he was growing up, and he graduated from the Marine
  Military Academy in Harlingen in 2003; he joined the air force in
  2008 and was trained to protect bases, aircraft, and personnel as an
  installation patrolman; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
  women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
  service; Airman Corey Owens embodied the highest ideals of the U.S.
  armed forces, and those who knew and loved him will forever carry
  him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Airman First Class
  Corey C. Owens and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Misty Owens; to his daughters, Xiya Owens and
  Xoe Owens; to his father, Steve Owens; to his mother, Chris Owens;
  to his sisters, Ann Kusterbeck and Sandra Owens; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Corey C.
  Owens.
