R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
  of Blanca Ramirez Shawn of San Juan, who passed away February 21,
  2011, at the age of 76; and
         WHEREAS, Born on March 2, 1934, to Cirilo and Victoria
  Ramirez, Blanca Sylvia Ramirez grew up in Pharr; while in high
  school, she was crowned Homecoming Queen and met the love of her
  life, James Shawn; the couple were married on June 20, 1957, and
  soon after they settled in San Juan; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Shawn was a devoted mother to her children,
  Victoria, James, Elizabeth, and Michael, and for more than 25 years
  she worked alongside her husband at Truck Service Garage, Mobile
  Crane Service, and the All Valley Flea Market; also an accomplished
  seamstress, she made countless infant clothes, Halloween costumes,
  prom dresses, and curtains; and
         WHEREAS, In her free time, Mrs. Shawn enjoyed gardening,
  reading, and sipping iced tea on a porch in the Texas Hill Country,
  where she spent many weekends; and
         WHEREAS, Although she will be greatly missed, Blanca Shawn
  left a legacy of joy and love that will continue to inspire all
  those who were fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Blanca Ramirez Shawn
  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  husband, James C. Shawn; to her children, Victoria Ann Stephen and
  her husband, Kurt, James R. Shawn and his wife, Elizabeth,
  Elizabeth Ann Shawn, and Dr. Michael D. Shawn; to her
  daughter-in-law, Jennifer Klass Shawn; to her grandchildren,
  Victoria, Sophia, and John Stephen, James, Xela, and Socrates
  Shawn, and Stacey Verhine; to her great-grandson, Jack Verhine; to
  her brother, Edward Ramirez, and his wife, Cory; to her sister,
  Lydia Leal, and her husband, Gilbert; and to her other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Blanca
  Ramirez Shawn.
