R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Captain Terry Ratliff is retiring from the Mesquite
  Fire Department in 2011, drawing to a close a notable tenure in
  public service that has spanned more than three decades; and
         WHEREAS, Terry Ratliff joined the Mesquite Fire Department on
  October 25, 1978, and through the years, he earned promotion to the
  posts of driver engineer and lieutenant; he went on to serve as an
  inspector in fire prevention before attaining the rank of captain
  in April 1987; and
         WHEREAS, Recognized for his exceptional work, this dedicated
  firefighter has received a number of commendations and was honored
  with the department's Life-Saving Award for his assistance in
  rescuing a veteran from a burning building; and
         WHEREAS, In retirement, Captain Ratliff looks forward to
  pursuing his many hobbies, including hunting and fishing at Lake
  Fork; and
         WHEREAS, Terry Ratliff's professionalism and devotion to
  public safety have greatly benefited his fellow citizens, and he
  may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks
  on the next exciting chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Terry Ratliff on the
  occasion of his retirement from the Mesquite Fire Department and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Captain Ratliff as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
