R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club are |
|
|
gathering in Austin on March 30, 2011, to celebrate Pachyderm Day at |
|
|
the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An official allied organization of the Republican |
|
|
National Committee, the club is a chapter of the Grand Order of |
|
|
Pachyderm Clubs, which was established on the belief that |
|
|
government can be made more responsive when more good citizens get |
|
|
involved with political issues and debates; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Houston group meets weekly and invites speakers |
|
|
such as elected officials and other public servants, candidates, |
|
|
and political activists to make presentations of civic or political |
|
|
importance, and it also sponsors political education seminars and |
|
|
other outreach initiatives; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Pachyderm Club provides a |
|
|
practical means for broad citizen participation in politics, and |
|
|
its members may take great pride in their civic engagement and |
|
|
achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 30, 2011, as Pachyderm Day at |
|
|
the State Capitol and extend to the members of the Greater Houston |
|
|
Pachyderm Club sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable |
|
|
visit to Austin; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
