R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Proud residents of Williamson County are gathering
  in Austin on April 13, 2011, to celebrate Williamson County Day at
  the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Williamson County is among the fastest-growing
  counties in the nation, with a population of more than 422,000, an
  increase of nearly 70 percent since 2000; and
         WHEREAS, The county's health care resources include five new
  or expanded hospitals as well as the Texas A&M Health Science
  Center; the Texas Life-Sciences Collaboration Center in Georgetown
  is a vital resource for the recruitment of emerging biotech,
  nanotech, and medical device companies and is a boon for science
  classes in the area's public schools and universities; and
         WHEREAS, A center for higher education, Williamson County
  boasts the campuses of historic Southwestern University, Texas
  State University-Round Rock Higher Education Center, Austin
  Community College, and the East Williamson County Higher Education
  Center, all of which are growing to meet demand; and
         WHEREAS, The city of Round Rock, home to Dell Computers and
  the Round Rock Express minor league baseball team, continues to
  surge in population while maintaining the small-town feel that
  attracts new residents; and
         WHEREAS, Taylor is home to the Electric Reliability Council
  of Texas, which manages the majority of the Lone Star State's
  electrical grid, and several companies focused on the creation of
  clean, renewable energy also have offices there; and
         WHEREAS, Leander is preparing for the future with its planned
  Transit Oriented Development and its active participation in the
  new Capital Metro commuter rail system; throughout the entire
  county, transportation infrastructure is being increased to
  accommodate growth and ensure the safety of residents and visitors;
  and
         WHEREAS, Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Georgetown have been
  listed among the best places to live, ride out the recession, launch
  a new business, and retire, and the county as a whole is among the
  safest places to live, with one of the lowest crime rates in the
  nation; and
         WHEREAS, Widely known for the hospitality, concern for
  others, goodwill, and civic engagement of its citizens, Williamson
  County is celebrated for its exceptional quality of life and the
  "can do" spirit of its people, pointing the way to a bright and
  exciting future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize April 13, 2011, as Williamson County
  Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation
  sincere best wishes for a memorable and meaningful day in Austin.
