R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, J. Luther King, Jr., of Fort Worth is concluding his |
|
tenure as chair of the Texas Christian University Board of Trustees |
|
in 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. King has been a valued member of the board since |
|
2005, and during his distinguished tenure his efforts have played a |
|
vital role in the success of the school, which was named one of the |
|
Top 20 Up-and-Coming National Universities by U.S. News & World |
|
Report in 2010; and |
|
WHEREAS, A chartered financial analyst, Mr. King is the |
|
president and founder of the registered investment advisory firm |
|
Luther King Capital Management Corporation; through his company, he |
|
established the LKCM Center for Financial Studies at the TCU Neeley |
|
School of Business, and he has also offered internship |
|
opportunities for more than 100 finance and accounting majors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. King and his wife, Teresa, have further |
|
benefited Texas Christian University by underwriting several |
|
facilities and by providing support for athletics, the Ranch |
|
Management Program, and scholarships; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected in his field, Mr. King has served as chair |
|
of the Investment Adviser Association board and the Investment |
|
Advisory Committee for the Employees Retirement System of Texas; in |
|
addition, he has been vice chair of the board of The University of |
|
Texas Investment Management Company, which has responsibilities |
|
for the endowment of The University of Texas and a portion of the |
|
endowment for Texas A&M University; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed professional has earned a number of |
|
honors for his work, including the title of Most Inspiring from CFA |
|
Magazine and the Daniel J. Forrestal III Leadership Award for |
|
Professional Ethics & Standards of Investment Practice from the CFA |
|
Institute; and |
|
WHEREAS, Texas Christian University has greatly benefited |
|
from the dedication and expertise that Luther King has brought to |
|
his role as chair of the board of trustees, and his commitment to |
|
the institution has furthered its mission of preparing students for |
|
the future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend J. Luther King, Jr., for his service as |
|
chair of the Texas Christian University Board of Trustees and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all of |
|
his endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. King as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
