R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Mithoff Burton Partners advertising firm in El |
|
Paso is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, The second oldest advertising agency in Texas and |
|
the oldest in El Paso, Mithoff Burton Partners was founded in 1931 |
|
by Warren Mithoff, who bartered advertising services for office |
|
space downtown; his son joined him in the business after World War |
|
II, and Bill Burton, who now runs the firm with his wife, Chana, |
|
came to the agency in 1973; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the agency has handled |
|
campaigns for companies including El Paso Natural Gas, Weaver |
|
Scopes, the Azar Nut Company, Blockbuster, Sierra Medical Center, |
|
and Farah Manufacturing, which was once El Paso's largest employer; |
|
in addition, the agency has done advertising work for numerous |
|
nonprofit organizations, such as the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, |
|
the Plaza Classic Film Festival, the Lighthouse for the Blind, the |
|
United Way of El Paso, and the Humane Society of El Paso; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mithoff Burton Partners has seen great changes in |
|
advertising during the past eight decades, as photos and graphics |
|
have overtaken text in print ads and as social media have become |
|
increasingly popular; today, the agency emphasizes a personal |
|
approach in its campaigns to reach varied audiences and has opened a |
|
second office in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a total staff of 22 between |
|
the two locations; and |
|
WHEREAS, After 80 years of operation, Mithoff Burton Partners |
|
continues to make an important contribution to El Paso and the Lone |
|
Star State, and it is a pleasure to honor the agency during this |
|
milestone year; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mithoff Burton Partners on its 80th |
|
anniversary and extend to all those associated with the firm |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the firm as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
