R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The University of Texas at El Paso men's basketball
  team created a memorable season for its fans in 2010-2011, winning
  more than 70 percent of its games as a new era in the history of the
  Miners program got under way; and
         WHEREAS, In its first year under new head coach Tim Floyd,
  UTEP finished second in Conference USA, posting an 11-5 record in
  conference play; the team's most impressive win was a 65-56 triumph
  over the highly regarded Michigan Wolverines at the Legends Classic
  in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on November 27; and
         WHEREAS, Senior Randy Culpepper, the 2009-2010 Conference
  USA Player of the Year, led the team in scoring with 19.3 points per
  game and leaves UTEP as the second-highest all-time scorer in both
  school and conference history and the conference's all-time leader
  in steals; and
         WHEREAS, Fellow senior Julyan Stone was the squad's top
  rebounder, averaging 7.5 per game while also becoming the
  conference's all-time leader in assists; and
         WHEREAS, The Miners finished with an overall record of 25-10
  and made an appearance in the National Invitational Tournament;
  having benefited from its experiences during an eventful year and
  with many talented players on its roster, the team is looking
  forward to the 2011-2012 campaign with great anticipation; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor The University of Texas at El Paso men's
  basketball team on its achievements during the 2010-2011 season and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
