        |  | R E S O L U T I O N | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the courageous men | 
      
        |  | and women of the law enforcement profession who, by their selfless | 
      
        |  | dedication to the public welfare, have enabled us to enjoy the | 
      
        |  | benefits of a peaceful and orderly society; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized and often taken for granted by | 
      
        |  | the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant individuals | 
      
        |  | daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic tranquility and | 
      
        |  | to protect the lives and property of others; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Deputy Sheriff Francis David Blake of the Burnet | 
      
        |  | County Sheriff's Office exemplified in his personal and | 
      
        |  | professional conduct the admirable virtues of courage, integrity, | 
      
        |  | and unwavering dedication; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Throughout his 6 years and 9 months on the force, he | 
      
        |  | garnered a record of meritorious service, loyalty, bravery, and | 
      
        |  | self-sacrifice consistent with the highest ideals of the law | 
      
        |  | enforcement profession; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on October 3, 2009, Deputy | 
      
        |  | Sheriff Blake will long be missed by his family, his fellow peace | 
      
        |  | officers, and the entire community; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Through the years, the notable legacy of Deputy | 
      
        |  | Sheriff Blake will endure and continue to be a source of inspiration | 
      
        |  | for those who follow in this difficult but essential profession; | 
      
        |  | now, therefore, be it | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | 
      
        |  | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Deputy Sheriff | 
      
        |  | Francis David Blake of the Burnet County Sheriff's Office and | 
      
        |  | extend deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and fellow | 
      
        |  | officers; and, be it further | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | 
      
        |  | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | 
      
        |  | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Deputy | 
      
        |  | Sheriff Blake. |
