R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the courageous men |
|
|
and women of the law enforcement profession who, by their selfless |
|
|
dedication to the public welfare, have enabled us to enjoy the |
|
|
benefits of a peaceful and orderly society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized and often taken for granted by |
|
|
the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant individuals |
|
|
daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic tranquility and |
|
|
to protect the lives and property of others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Border Patrol Agent Cruz C. McGuire of U.S. Customs |
|
|
and Border Protection exemplified in his personal and professional |
|
|
conduct the admirable virtues of courage, integrity, and unwavering |
|
|
dedication; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his 25 years on the force, he garnered a |
|
|
record of meritorious service, loyalty, bravery, and |
|
|
self-sacrifice consistent with the highest ideals of the law |
|
|
enforcement profession; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on May 21, 2009, Agent |
|
|
McGuire will long be missed by his family, his fellow peace |
|
|
officers, and the entire community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, the notable legacy of Agent |
|
|
McGuire will endure and continue to be a source of inspiration for |
|
|
those who follow in this difficult but essential profession; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Border Patrol Agent |
|
|
Cruz C. McGuire of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and extend |
|
|
deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and fellow officers; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Agent |
|
|
McGuire. |
