R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the courageous men
  and women of the law enforcement profession who, by their selfless
  dedication to the public welfare, have enabled us to enjoy the
  benefits of a peaceful and orderly society; and
         WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized and often taken for granted by
  the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant individuals
  daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic tranquility and
  to protect the lives and property of others; and
         WHEREAS, Trooper Jonathan T. McDonald of the Texas Department
  of Public Safety exemplified in his personal and professional
  conduct the admirable virtues of courage, integrity, and unwavering
  dedication; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his 2 years and 2 months on the force, he
  garnered a record of meritorious service, loyalty, bravery, and
  self-sacrifice consistent with the highest ideals of the law
  enforcement profession; and
         WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on November 15, 2010,
  Trooper McDonald will long be missed by his family, his fellow peace
  officers, and the entire community; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, the notable legacy of Trooper
  McDonald will endure and continue to be a source of inspiration for
  those who follow in this difficult but essential profession; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Trooper Jonathan T.
  McDonald of the Texas Department of Public Safety and extend
  deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and fellow officers; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Trooper
  McDonald.
