R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lori Peterson Perez has greatly benefited Rio Grande
  City and Starr County through her civic endeavors, and it is indeed
  fitting to recognize her distinguished service; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Perez has been a member of the Beta Zeta Omicron
  chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for 10 years; she has served the
  organization as president and currently serves as treasurer, and
  she is president of the Starr County Council of Beta Sigma Phi;
  moreover, Ms. Perez is treasurer of the Rio Grande City Economic
  Development Corporation and has held a number of leadership roles
  in the Florence J. Scott Study Club; and
         WHEREAS, Her commitment to area youth has been demonstrated
  through her volunteer work with Texas 4-H Friends, the Rio Grande
  City Little League, and the Cub Scouts; she has been vice president
  of the Starr County Youth Fair since 2006 and has served as chair of
  its advisory board; a valued member of First Baptist Church since
  1979, Ms. Perez serves the congregation as organist; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan graduated from Rio Grande City
  High School and earned her bachelor's degree in agricultural
  economics from Texas A&M University; in 1997, she received her law
  degree from St. Mary's University School of Law, and she was
  employed by the firms of Garza & Montalvo and Montalvo & Perez
  before establishing a solo practice; and
         WHEREAS, Among her professional affiliations are the Pro Bono
  College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Family Law Foundation,
  and the Texas Aggie Bar Association, and she is an officer of the
  Starr County Bar Association; moreover, she is a member of the Order
  of Barristers, has chaired the St. Mary's University School of Law
  Board of Advocates, and was a speaker at the Advocacy Training
  Conference in McAllen; Ms. Perez also contributes to her alma
  maters through her membership on the board of the Hidalgo-Starr
  County A&M Club and in the St. Mary's University School of Law
  Alumni Association, the Texas A&M University 12th Man Foundation,
  and the A&M Association of Former Students; and
         WHEREAS, Those individuals who step forward to share their
  time and talents with others are indeed deserving of our
  recognition, and Lori Perez has made a positive difference through
  her dedication to her community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Lori Peterson Perez for her outstanding
  service to Rio Grande City and Starr County and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Perez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
