R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Benavides High School Lady Eagles basketball |
|
|
team enjoyed a successful 2010-2011 season, capturing the District |
|
|
32-1A championship and winning the bi-district crown as well; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the team's inspirational motto of "dig |
|
|
down deep," the Lady Eagles rebounded from a slow start in district |
|
|
play to put together a five-game winning streak and take first place |
|
|
with a record of five victories and two defeats; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Benavides earned a bye in the bi-district round of |
|
|
the University Interscholastic League state playoffs to advance to |
|
|
the area round, where the Lady Eagles were defeated by Center Point |
|
|
High School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of head coach Celso Oliveira, |
|
|
these talented student-athletes demonstrated teamwork and an |
|
|
enduring commitment to excellence, and their accomplishment is a |
|
|
source of great pride to their school and their many supporters in |
|
|
the local community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Benavides High School Lady |
|
|
Eagles basketball team on winning district and bi-district |
|
|
championships during the 2010-2011 season and extend to the team's |
|
|
players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
