R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Each year, more than 300 dedicated men and women and |
|
|
many area organizations volunteer their services for the Waco |
|
|
Center for Youth; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1979, the center is a residential |
|
|
treatment facility that serves teens with emotional and behavioral |
|
|
problems; it bases its treatment philosophy on the belief that an |
|
|
understanding of self and others is crucial for achieving long-term |
|
|
change; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Volunteer Services Council at the center |
|
|
provides goods, services, and personal attention for youths beyond |
|
|
the care and treatment provided by the state; by giving of their |
|
|
time and resources, volunteers help the teens to develop their |
|
|
skills and have a better chance for change; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their support for the mission of the Waco |
|
|
Center for Youth, these outstanding volunteers are greatly |
|
|
benefiting many young people in the Lone Star State, and they are to |
|
|
be commended for their hard work and achievements; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor the volunteers at the Waco Center for |
|
|
Youth and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future. |
