R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The students at Castleman Creek Elementary in |
|
Hewitt collected more than $10,500 for the American Heart |
|
Association during their 2011 Jump Rope for Heart fund-raiser; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jump Rope for Heart is a national event sponsored by |
|
the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for |
|
Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance that educates |
|
elementary and middle school students about the benefits of |
|
physical activity and heart-healthy living while getting them |
|
involved in community service; participating students raise money |
|
to help fight cardiovascular disease and stroke, which are our |
|
nation's number one and number three killers, respectively, as they |
|
exercise and develop their jump rope skills; and |
|
WHEREAS, This year, 321 dedicated Castleman Creek students |
|
took part in the event, and the amount that they brought in set a new |
|
school record, surpassing their 2010 total of $8,400; the students |
|
were ably supported in this project by many teachers, parents, and |
|
volunteers, and the money they raised will help the American Heart |
|
Association fund vital research and educational programs; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through their participation in the 2011 Jump Rope |
|
for Heart endeavor, the students of Castleman Creek Elementary have |
|
demonstrated their commitment to remaining physically active and |
|
have contributed significantly to advancing the crucial work of the |
|
American Heart Association, and their remarkable accomplishment is |
|
indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend the students of Castleman Creek |
|
Elementary for their outstanding fund-raising efforts in behalf of |
|
the American Heart Association and extend to them sincere |
|
appreciation for their impressive contribution to such a worthy |
|
cause; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Castleman Creek Elementary as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
