R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of James Carlton Timmons were
  deeply saddened by his passing on March 7, 2011, at the age of 89;
  and
         WHEREAS, Born in Young County on September 22, 1921, "Red"
  Timmons graduated from Olney High School and went on to serve his
  country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II;
  in 1950, he graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a
  bachelor's degree in architectural engineering; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Timmons enjoyed a long and successful career as
  a registered professional engineer; initially employed as an
  architectural design engineer, he later joined the North American
  Rockwell Hercules facility in McGregor, where he served with
  distinction for 34 years in construction and industrial and project
  engineering; a leader in his industry, he held the offices of
  president and state director with the Waco chapter of the Texas
  Society of Professional Engineers, and in 1987 he was named
  Engineer of the Year; he retired that same year and spent the next
  chapter of his life farming in Gholson; and
         WHEREAS, A longtime resident of McLennan County, Mr. Timmons
  was a valued member of Trinity Methodist Church in Waco, which later
  became Central United Methodist Church, and he served his fellow
  congregants on a number of committees; the local Meals on Wheels
  also benefited from his volunteer efforts; and
         WHEREAS, He married the former Mildred Wreyford in December
  1948 and they became the parents of three children, Carol, James,
  and Stephen; in 2008, after nearly six decades together, Mrs.
  Timmons passed away; Mr. Timmons later moved to Tyler, where he was
  fortunate enough to find love a second time with Winnie Fenton; and
         WHEREAS, Although Red Timmons is deeply missed, memories of
  his generosity, his devotion to his family, and his delightful
  sense of humor will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of
  those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James Carlton Timmons
  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  daughter, Carol Lanthrum, and her husband, Tim; to his sons, Dr.
  James Timmons and his wife, Dr. Carolyn Timmons, and Stephen
  Timmons; to his grandchildren, Janelle and Clint Lanthrum and Liza
  and Zach Timmons; to his brother, Burl Timmons; to his sister,
  Barbara Fegett; to his special friend, Winnie Fenton; and to his
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James
  Carlton Timmons.
