R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Bobby Chastain of Woodway passed away on March 10,
  2011, at the age of 85, leaving his circle of family and friends
  with many treasured memories of time spent in his company; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Caney, Kansas, on December 24, 1925, to
  Elias and Alma Chastain, Bob Chastain graduated from Caney High
  School in 1943 and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World
  War II; a member of the crew of the USS Johnston, he survived the
  Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines in 1944, when his ship was
  sunk by the Japanese; he also served during the Korean War and later
  became a founder of the Johnston Survivors' Association; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Chastain married Betty Lou Akin on March 4,
  1948, and they moved to Texas six years later; he attended Baylor
  University, earning his degree in 1958, and he held a number of
  management positions over the course of a 35-year career with
  Rockwell International and Hercules, Inc., before retiring in 1987;
  he further distinguished himself as president of a local credit
  union for many years; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Chastain enjoyed the
  love and support of his wife of 63 years, Betty Lou Chastain, and
  their daughter, Teresa; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have shared in Bob
  Chastain's love and friendship will remember his wonderful sense of
  humor, his compelling stories about the navy, and his devotion to
  his family, and they will forever carry him close in their hearts;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bob Chastain and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Betty Lou Chastain; to his daughter, Teresa L. Ridlehuber, and her
  husband, Evan; to his grandson, Joshua A. Baldwin, and his wife,
  Katie; to his great-granddaughter, Lauren Baldwin; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bob
  Chastain.
