R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The West High School Trojan Band won its third |
|
|
consecutive Sweepstakes Award in spring 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Led by director Steve Hart, the 80-member group |
|
|
claimed this prestigious distinction after earning first division |
|
|
ratings in the concert and sight-reading competitions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These outstanding young musicians exhibited poise |
|
|
and talent as well as the confidence they have garnered from prior |
|
|
achievements, including a Division I rating in University |
|
|
Interscholastic League Region 8 Marching in fall 2010; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through long hours of practice and inspired |
|
|
performances, the Trojan Band has developed into an accomplished |
|
|
ensemble that is a source of great pride to its school and to its |
|
|
many supporters in West; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the West High School Trojan Band on |
|
|
winning its third consecutive Sweepstakes Award and extend to its |
|
|
members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
