R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating great skill and determination, the
  Kingwood High School girls' swimming and diving team won the
  University Interscholastic League 5A state championship for the
  second consecutive season with an outstanding performance at the
  state meet on February 18 and 19, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, En route to claiming the fifth girls' swimming
  championship in school history, the Mustangs excelled in a variety
  of events; the team of Jill Vitarius, Shannen Wehrman, Madeline
  Hazle, and Jamie Friderichs finished first in the 400-yard free
  relay with a time of 3:27.16; in the 200-yard medley relay, Ms.
  Vitarius, Ms. Hazle, and Ms. Friderichs were joined by Leah Pfitzer
  and paced the field, finishing in 1:43.92, and Ms. Vitarius also
  claimed an individual title in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in
  at 53.54 seconds; and
         WHEREAS, Winning with a true team effort throughout the
  2010-2011 season, the Mustangs also benefited from the
  contributions of the other members of the roster: Katheryn Nolen,
  Cami Luhrs, Lisa Swank, Danielle Meara, and manager Lisa Walton;
  the swimmers were guided by head coach Russell Duin and assistant
  coach Laura Ledlow, whose leadership helped Kingwood to remain
  undefeated in six dual meets and three invitationals before its
  triumph at the state meet; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an enduring
  commitment to excellence, and these talented student-athletes may
  take justifiable pride in this accomplishment; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Kingwood High School girls'
  swimming and diving team for winning the UIL 5A state championship
  and extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
