R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Marco Andres Juarez of San Antonio is serving as an
  honorary page in the Texas House of Representatives on April 13,
  2011, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize this fine young
  Texan for his educational and extracurricular achievements; and
         WHEREAS, A junior at the International School of the Americas
  in San Antonio, Marco Juarez is ranked in the top five percent of
  his class and is currently enrolled in four advanced placement
  courses; in addition, he is a member of the National Honor Society,
  the Spanish Honor Society, and Model United Nations, which he
  co-chairs; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Juarez plays the viola in the varsity chamber
  orchestra, and he was named an outstanding student musician in 2009
  and earned a superior ranking at the University Interscholastic
  League orchestra competition in 2010; he has also been a member of
  the pit orchestra for performances of The Sound of Music and
  Seussical; and
         WHEREAS, Recently chosen as one of just 25 students from
  across the country, Mr. Juarez will travel to Honduras and
  Nicaragua for three weeks in 2011 as part of the Central America
  Youth Ambassadors program, which works to increase mutual
  understanding among peoples of the Americas as well as to prepare
  tomorrow's leaders for a lifetime of community service; the program
  is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by
  Georgetown University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Juarez has served as a counselor and mentor at a
  robotics engineering camp and participated in the National Hispanic
  Institute's youth legislative sessions; moreover, he has done
  volunteer work with state and national political campaigns and at
  the Ronald McDonald House, the San Antonio Botanical Garden, the
  Model United Nations 2010 San Antonio conference, and his school
  and church; his other interests include tennis, rugby, chess, and
  ping-pong; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating initiative and a commitment to
  excellence, Marco Juarez has built an impressive record of
  accomplishment, and he may indeed look forward to a future bright
  with promise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize Marco Andres Juarez as an honorary
  page in the Texas House of Representatives on April 13, 2011, and
  commend him for his academic achievements and community service;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Juarez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
